Colossians 3:17–17 Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father.
Dear Friends,
As usual, we are staying busy around here.
Recently we have continued to give out food, almost every day, to people in the community, as well as medical supplies for home health and hospice nurses. We recently made a trip to Tulsa in which, besides a lot of winter clothes, we were blessed (because of the work and sacrifice of others) to include over 300 Christmas boxes and several boxes of new toys. As with other parts of the United States, the homeless situation increases every day. We are very thankful for the churches/organizations in Tulsa who work to meet so many desperate needs.
As the Lord permits, along with many others around here, we continue to try to help in flooded/storm affected areas of Tennessee and North Carolina. According to those working there, the needs are indeed desperate with many individuals and families even living in automobiles and tents. This with winter arriving and the temperatures falling.
I have always felt that “we do what we can with what we have” simply because that is what God has blessed us to do—but then I always pray that He will make it possible for us to do more. Folks, our country has had many storms/tragedies in the recent past and there are so many needs. However, those folks in the mountains, that have lost everything, are facing extremely bad situations due to their locations. I went to sleep last night thinking of them and woke this morning thinking of them, praying the Lord would show us what else we can do.
There are a couple of things that can be done right now.
First, pray for these folks. Most of us can’t imagine what they have been through, and are going through at this time. So many have lost not only all they owned, but many have lost families and family members. I can assure you that the media is not giving you the true statistics of what has happened there, or the needs there. If you are really interested in knowing just a little of the situation there and what these folks are facing, you can go to the following link:

One of the biggest needs out there is propane heaters. (Please do not send electric because so much of the area is without any kind of electrical power). On Amazon, you can get the Big Buddy Pro “Mr. Heater” for $124 and the hose for it for about $30. We are working on getting tanks of propane for them if you would like to help with that also.
Should you feel led to help in this manner, you can purchase on Amazon and have them sent to:
God’s Warehouse

I assure you these folks will make sure they go to where they are needed. I am sure there are other churches/organizations where you can have them sent but I am not familiar with them.
Also, where possible, they are already starting rebuilds and are much in need of large loads of building materials—in case any of you can help in this. If you should feel led in this way, please contact me and I will put you in touch with people I know that are working on that.
Another way of being a blessing to them is CHRISTMAS IN THE MOUNTAINS—collecting gifts for the children affected by the storm. Attached is a brochure which describes what is needed and also contact info if you have questions.
Although it is difficult to believe, a huge need is firewood. Because of so many mud slides and other obstacles, people can’t get to the areas where they usually cut their firewood. A gentleman has been found (locally) who will deliver a huge dump truck load for $1500, including delivery to a site the people have access to. So far, we have been able to purchase one load, which he has delivered.
Last but certainly not least is the continued need for generators. If you are local, and have a generator that is in decent shape, that you would like to donate, and just needs some minor work on it, please contact me. We have someone who has been working on these and, to date, I guess has repaired/sent about 30 generators which were greatly appreciated.
Attached, you will find the latest “needs list” put out by God’s Warehouse, in case you are interested in helping in this way. As I have mentioned before, you can either order from Amazon and have it sent directly, or bring it here and we will make sure they receive it.
Folks, I know this letter is long and very much “one subject oriented”. However, this is what the Lord has put on my heart.
As we sit down to our Thanksgiving meals and count our blessings, let us be sure to remember those in the mountains, living on streets, and so many less fortunate. I am attaching a Thanksgiving Prayer that I often read at our lunch on Thanksgiving Day.
As always, thank you for your continued prayers and support. Only the Lord knows how many lives you touch for Jesus through your help.
We pray that you all have a very Blessed and Happy Thanksgiving!!
In His Service,
Johnny and Sissie

A Thanksgiving Prayer
Samuel F. Pugh
“O God, when I have food,
help me to remember the hungry;
When I have work,
help me to remember the jobless;
When I have a home,
help me to remember those who have no home at all;
When I am without pain,
help me to remember those who suffer,
And remembering,
help me to destroy my complacency;
bestir my compassion,
and be concerned enough to help;
By word and deed,
those who cry out for what we take for granted.
Amen.”
