2 Corinthians 9:10-11; Now He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness; you will be enriched in everything for all liberality, which through us is producing thanksgiving to God.
Dear Friends,
As I have shared with you before, people have many times asked me how do I decide where to ship containers. And, I tell them that if/when an opportunity to help opens before me, I just try to be faithful to act on it in whatever way the Lord leads and makes possible.
There are parts of our world right now that are with extremely critical needs and I pray for these situations and I often pray that if the Lord wants us to help, He will direct. Recently, I have really had Malawi and Haiti on my heart for both are countries with unimaginable devastation.
A couple of mornings ago I was up at 4 and checked my email. I had an email from Pastor Bob Lefranc in Haiti, whom we have worked with several years ago. In the past couple of weeks they have suffered both devastating flooding and an earthquake. Perhaps some of you already know the political/economic situation there which is extremely bad.
After communication with our shipping agent, and Pastor Bob, to be sure that he can clear customs with a container and get it to its destination and the supplies to those in need, I felt that I should send this letter out. Pastor Bob will work to obtain the funds for shipping, which is about $7000, if shipped from here.
The needs are very simple:
- Dried goods—beans and rice are one of the best foods for they are easy to prepare and very nutritious.
- Any canned foods (but must have at least 6 months before expiration when they arrive in Haiti
- Over the counter medicines/first aid supplies which also must have 6 months before expiration when they arrive in Haiti
- Personal hygiene items (huge need also)
- Summer clothing/shoes in good condition
- Toilet paper
- Baby Diapers
Folks, I realize the economic situation here in our country but I also know that the Lord is “always good for the impossible”. Please be praying for not only Haiti, but for those around us and in other parts of the world. As I was working on this yesterday, I was wondering “why not Malawi or other places I know about?” and it comes down to just trusting God that He always knows what needs to be done. It seems He has opened the door for Haiti in this case.
May the Lord continue to bless you all.
In His Service,
Johnny
