Wisdom From Oswald Chambers — “We are not to preach the doing of good things; good deeds are not to be preached, they are to be performed. ”

Dear Friends, We thank the Lord for each of you, for your prayers, as you help us with the physical work, and for your financial support. I pray the Lord’s richest blessings on all of you. Besides a real problem with Sissie’s shoulder, we are all well, and very thankful for that. I am sure that most, if not all of yo u, and keeping up with some of the things going on in the world today — the financial situation, food situation, homelessness, hate and no respect for our law enforcement, and many other problems too numerous to name. I believe there are 2 ways we can look at all of it. One, is to constantly live in fear and apprehension, OR, we can embrace it, realizing every moment that God is still in full control, and seek His will in how He would have you and I to minister to others today and in the coming days. I think we are faced with a unique opportunity to express His love to others. It is up to us what we do with this opportunity though. I assure you that if you do not know what you can do, you can ask the Lord, with an open heart, and He will direct you into His will. Do you ever stop t o think of the number of people that you com e into contact with each day? I have shared with the children that we all have the opportunity to make someone’s day better, or worse, simply with the words we speak or the attitude we have. I am also attaching a devotional by Oswald Chambers. I think that it will be a blessing to you — perhaps a special blessing in these days we are living in right now. Recently, the Lord blessed us with the resources to have a much needed new roof put on one of the buildings, and also, as you can see in the picture, a very nice covered area added to the building for the loading of food for distribution. What a blessing! A person, who recently delivered food to an older couple for the first time, was telling Sissie that the couple had not had beef in over a year. They could not afford it. They will receive regularly now, as long as the Lord provides. As you see on the attached page of pictures , Allie, who has been with us since age 6, was recently married to Chase Jenkins. Chase graduated from Mississippi College last year. Allie has one more year. We are very happy for them. Also, there are pictures of Mimi (been with us since she was 1 ½ yrs old) with Sissie and I as she celebrates her 16th birthday. And, a picture of us with Lily (been with us since she was a month old) as we went to attend her band concert. Again, thank you all for all of your prayers and support. Whether it is here at Fairhaven, working in the community, or halfway around the world, you are a part of being a blessing to others.

Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you... — John 14:27

There are times in our lives when our peace is based simply on our own ignorance. But when we are awakened to t he realities of life, true inner peace is impossible unless it is received from Jesus. When our Lord speaks peace, He creates peace, because the words that He speaks are always “spirit, and they are life” ( John 6:63 ). Have I ever received what Jesus speaks? “… My peace I give to you …” — a peace that comes from looking into His face and fully understanding and receiving His quiet contentment. Are you severely troubled right now? Are you afraid and confused by the waves and the turbulence God sovereignly allows to enter your life? Have you left no stone of your faith unturned, yet still not found any well of peace, joy, or comfort? Does your life seem completely barren to you? Then look up and receive the quiet contentment of the Lord Jesus. Reflecting His peace is proof that you are right with God, because you are exhibiting the freedom to turn your mind to Him. If you are not right with God, you can never turn your mind anywhere but on yourself. Allowing anything to hide the face of Jesus Christ from you either causes you to become troubled or gives you a false sense of security. With regard to the problem that is pressing in on you right now, are you “looking unto Jesus” ( Hebrews 12:2 ) and receiving peace from Him? If so, He will be a gracious blessing of peace exhibited in and through you. But if you only try to worry your way out of the problem, you destroy His effectiveness in you, and you deserve whatever you get. We become troubled because we have not been taking Him into account . When a person confers with Jesus Christ, the confusion stops, because there is no confusion in Him. Lay everything out before Him, and when you are faced with difficulty, bereavement, and sorrow, listen to Him say, “Let not your heart be troubled…” ( John 14:27 ).
