Fairhaven Update – September 18, 2014

Genesis 12:3–And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.

Dear Friends,

First, we want to thank you all for your continued prayers and support of the ministry here at Fairhaven. Besides the children, the Lord continually allows us to minister to the needs of others. It is only because of so many of you being involved in helping us in different ways.

The Lord willing, we will load the next container for Romania on November 8th. This will cost about $10,000 for the shipping and clearing customs so please be praying that the Lord will provide the funding as He always has. I guess, more than ever, I live aware that we strictly work on His timetable.

I want to share with you, in this letter, a special request that the Lord has put on my heart. It was a few months ago, through a friend in Tennessee, that I became aware of some of the real needs in Israel. After he shared some things with me, I could not get it off of my mind and started to praying that if the Lord wanted to bless us with the privilege of being a blessing to His people, that He would work it out.

Finally, I really felt that we were supposed to do this. Then, Don Owens, Harvest of Israel Project Director for First Baptist Church of Morristown, Tenn., called me and told me that if we decide to ship a container, they would pay the shipping up to $6,000. Well, I had already checked on the cost of shipping from here, and it is only $4,500.

An excerpt from a letter from one of those working in Israel:

“For our particular needs, we have a few options.  While we are

in a ceasefire with Hamas, for up to a month, we can build

survival kits and distribute them before the bombing begins

again.  We still need to build thousands and thousands to
meet the need.

Secondly, for $336 we can put on a play party in Sderot
for 150 kids or similar event, that gives the kids in the heavy
bombing zone around the Gaza Strip a chance to safely run
around to their heart’s content after being cooped up day
after day in the bomb shelter.

Thirdly, we are still replacing dilapidated single mattresses
in IDF soldiers’ bunks in bases all over the country – if you
have access to very good used mattresses, like hotel mattresses.

Fourthly, we are replacing furniture around the country at
orphanages all over the country that were all built a long long
time ago.  Single beds, side tables, single chairs, dressers or
wardrobes, as well as couch sets with coffee tables for the
social corners of these orphanages.  In case you have access
to good used furniture.

Attached is our regular “needs” list – with other ideas”

HIGHEST DEMAND ITEMS FOR HELPING IN ISRAEL

Diapers-all sizes

Children’s shoes-new only, without tags

School backpacks that hang on the back w/2 straps

(roomy), new or like new and clean

School supplies, like pencil cases (larger ones with dividers) – new or like new, spiral notebooks, drawing pads, pencils, sharpeners, erasers, etc

Baby clothes without plastic packaging or tags

Incontinent briefs/materials for the disables

NEW or LIKE NEW:

Household textiles (without tags): towels, blankets, linens, pillows, bed spreads, comforters, bed sheets

Mattresses in very good condition

These in Israel are reminded, by the help they receive, that there are Christians around the world that are loving them and praying for them in these trying times. I think many of us agree that it is important that we express of the Love of Christ to the people of Israel. That we demonstrate to them that they are not forgotten and that we stand with them.

Attached, you will find a needs list, of the highest demand items, that I recently received, plus many other needs. One of my problems, at the present, is that I have very little free space to store items until after we get the shipment out in November. Should you feel led to help in this way, I would just ask that, if you start obtaining these items, you would please hold them until I will have room to store them for shipping. Also, re the diapers, please be sure that they are sorted and labled either either adult or children. It would make it easier if they are purchased by the case, but certainly not necessary. Should you have any questions, please contact me.

As always, thank you all for your prayers and support. I pray the Lord’s richest blessing on each of you.

In His Service,

Johnny
