KIDS PRAY FOR THE FUNDING OF A CONTAINER

Posted by on Apr 15, 2014 in News, News and Stories

KIDS PRAY FOR THE FUNDING OF A CONTAINER One of the things we have been privileged to do, because of the love and concern of so many others, is to ship Christmas Joy Boxes to children and Christmas Joy Bags to the elderly in Romania for Christmas each year. We try to load this container on the first Saturday in November in order to assure that it will be in Romania in plenty of time for our coworkers to deliver all of these before Christmas. I tell people that one of the benefits of the Lord allowing us to help others is that it gives the children here at Fairhaven a chance to be on on the...

Posted by on Apr 15, 2014 in News, News and Stories

KIDS PRAY FOR A NEW SWIMMING POOL We had a been given a swimming pool that was a few years old when we rcvd it, but the kids really enjoyed it. Then, in the summer of 2010, about August, it started to having some weak areas. I decided that I had better drain it for did not want it collapsing while the kids were in it. After I drained it, I saw that it was beyond repair so we took it down. The day I told the kids, you would have thought we were having a funeral! One of them said “Papa Johnny, are you going to buy a new pool?”. I told them that we did not have the money to buy one and that...

EEG Machine

EEG Machine When in Romania, I would often visit hopitals, clinics, and other medical facilities to find out their needs. On one trip, I visited a children’s neurological clinic, met the doctor, and found out they had need for carpet and paint. We shipped these items to them in the next container. On my next trip, I went to visit them again and the doctor told me that she did not want to impose on me but wanted to show me their 15 yr old EEG machine. I can just say that it was in terrible shape, but that they were still trying to use it. On returning home, I put the word out for an EEG...

Claudiu Claudiu,Is one of the boys that spends a lot of time on the street. Normally he does not live on the street but ends up there from time to time. He doesn’t use drugs or smoke but he spends a lot of time begging in front of Mc Donald’s. We have been talking to him for a year or so. He is one of the boys that has a weak leg as a result of an injection. His leg is very weak and skinny. At one time he had crutches but they were broken along the way so he walked with one hand in his pocket applying pressure on his thigh to keep his leg stiff. Johnny when I pulled out the brace...

Christmas Bag Story

Christmas Bag Story A few weeks before Christmas, I was at the nursing home translating for someone, when one of the younger residents stopped me to talk. Lili is 30-something and is heavily medicated for emotional problems. She also has problems with her weight. She is the largest person in the nursing home. She started telling me how God takes care of her, how she doesn’t need to worry about food or clothing because there’s Someone watching over her. I affirmed what she said, then went on my way. When the holiday season rolled around, we were back at the nursing home handing out Christmas...

A MIRACLE FOR MARIUS

Posted by on Apr 15, 2014 in News, News and Stories

A MIRACLE FOR MARIUS In 1997, I was in Arad, and Marius’s mother came to visit me, and brought Marius with her. She told me that, unless something was done, Marius would not live much longer. Marius was born with hydrocephylus, sometimes known as “a waterhead baby”. At the time he was born, Romania was still under Communist rule. However as odd as it may sound, they had a more stable economy at that time, than they did right after the collapse of Communism in 1989, and therefore had better access to some of the needed medical supplies. When Marius was born, they had implanted a “shunt” in...
